Quarterly Reports:

The quarterly North Carolina HIV/STD Surveillance Report contains the most recent case statistics about syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV and AIDS for each quarter in the current year. It contains statewide summaries of reports with breakdowns by sex, age group and race/ethnicity. It also contains summaries of reports for each county.

Annual Reports:

The annual North Carolina HIV/STD Surveillance Report contains detailed case statistics about syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV and AIDS for the last full 5-year period. It includes breakdowns of reports by sex, age group, race/ethnicity for each year with accompanying disease incidence rates. The STD Tables Only link below contains updated case statistics for the bacterial sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) as the annual disease information becomes available.

Important Note: Fluctuations in the number of disease reports per year may be influenced by reporting issues, which may vary by disease. In the North Carolina 2008 HIV/STD Surveillance Report, HIV and AIDS data are presented differently than in previous years; there are new descriptive categories and some data are presented by date of diagnosis rather than date of report. Therefore, comparisons to data from previous reports may not be appropriate. For guidance, please see the Technical Notes on pages i - v of the 2008 report. The 2008 report was updated with additional 2008 data in Dec. 2009 and is now available (see link below).

The annual HIV Prevention & Community Planning Epidemiologic Profile for North Carolina is the most comprehensive report available for HIV/AIDS in North Carolina. It includes not only surveillance information but also related information available from other agencies. It includes detailed discussions of HIV and AIDS trends, risk factors and differences among various demographic groups in the state.

Special Reports are topical reports on various health issues about STD and HIV/AIDS.
