Salisbury, N.C. Environmental/Health Studies

In response to citizen concerns about emissions from a local asphalt distribution terminal (Associated Asphalt) near the Milford Hills area of Salisbury, state and federal agencies have been conducting several environmental and health studies since spring, 2001.

In a cooperative effort, the N.C. Division of Air Quality, N.C. Division of Water Quality, N.C. Division of Public Health and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services), assisted by the Rowan County Health Department and the City of Salisbury, have been working to assess the situation and address citizen concerns.
